But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. Titus 3:4-7

Hello, my walking friend! Are you ready for some fresh air and a fresh perspective? Jesus is so generously and graciously offering us both. So, let’s get our hearts pumping from exercise and fresh air and turn our hearts spiritually toward Jesus for a fresh perspective.

Today is the 19th episode in the transformation series and our verse to meditate on is Titus 3:4-7:
But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.

In the busyness of our lives, it’s easy to get caught up in the daily grind and lose sight of the bigger picture. At least I know it is for me. And I can find myself longing for a fresh start, renewal, or transformation. The good news is that such a renewal is available to us, and it is beautifully captured in the words of the Apostle Paul in today’s verses.

These verses remind us that our transformation and renewal are not dependent on our own efforts or achievements. It is God’s kindness, love, and mercy that bring about this change in us. It is by His grace and through the work of the Holy Spirit that we are transformed into new creations.

My walking friend, have you ever felt burdened by past mistakes or overwhelmed by the weight of your shortcomings? The beauty of God’s transformative love is that it does not discriminate. It reaches out to every broken heart and every weary soul. It doesn’t matter how far we’ve strayed or how deep we’ve fallen; God’s love has the power to cleanse, restore, and renew us.

Today’s verses overflow with the depth of God’s love and the magnitude of His transforming power. Paul reminds us that our salvation is not based on our own merits or righteous acts but solely on God’s boundless mercy. It is this mercy that ignites the process of renewal and transformation within us.

When we embrace the love and kindness of God, we are washed clean from our past sins and given a fresh perspective on life. This renewal is not a mere external change but a deep transformation that occurs within our hearts.

As we walk this path of transformation, we are reminded of our identity as heirs of God’s grace. We become partakers of the promise of eternal life, where hope springs eternal. This hope is not wishful thinking; it is a confident expectation that God’s work in us will be completed, and we will one day stand fully transformed in His presence.

Now let’s take a little time to meditate on today’s verse,
Titus 3:4-7:
But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.

You are now at the halfway point of your walk. If you need to be back in 10 minutes, this would be the time to turn around and head back.

The second half of our walk is an opportunity for reflection, meditation, and prayer. For many of us, myself included, this might feel challenging. But the spiritual rewards, and transformation, that come from developing this discipline is great and so is the power of the Holy Spirit to help us. So let’s start with some questions that will guide you in the process of reflection.

Do you ever feel you take your salvation for granted? If not, what keeps that from happening? If so, how can you be more mindful of the precious gift Jesus died to give you? Take a little time to consider your answer.

What were the circumstances that led you to accept Jesus as your Savior? Take some time to remember and thank Jesus.

Other than saving your soul, in what other ways or from what things has Jesus saved you?

Now let’s listen to today’s verse one last time:
Titus 3:4-7:
But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.

Is there anything else you would like to talk to Jesus about? Anything going on in your life? Remember he is right there with you, walking with you, and he is eager for you to share all that is on your heart and mind with him. Take some time to talk to him now.

Now I am going to pray for us:
Dear Jesus,
Forgive me when I take my salvation for granted. Remind me of what it cost you to make a way for us to walk together. I praise you because you are kind, loving, merciful, generous, and full of grace. My hope is in you, Jesus, my Savior. Today I will walk with my head held high, confident, because I am your child, I am your heir. I have inherited every good and perfect gift from you. I am so thankful that you saved me, even while I was a sinner. And even though I still slip up and make bad choices, you still love me. Thank you, Jesus, for being you and for walking with me always. Amen.

Well, my walking friend, you did it! Another 10 minutes of walking and another opportunity to build the spiritual discipline of prayer and quiet time with Jesus, our Savior. I’m grateful for you and I’m grateful you took the time to walk with me today.
