And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

Hello, my walking friend! As you start on your walk, consider that the creator of the universe is willing, and wanting, to walk with you. Jesus made it possible for us to have a relationship with a perfect and holy creator, and one day we will see him face to face. Isn’t that amazing? I hope that puts some spring into your step!

Today is the 10th episode in the transformation series and our verse to meditate on is 2 Corinthians 3:18:

And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

Remember when Moses went up Mount Sinai to get the 10 commandments from God? He went up to get the law from the Lord to bring down to the people. While he was there, he saw the Lord face to face. Now, this was something amazing because God had told the Israelites that they could not see him face to face and live. When Moses came down the mountain, his face shown with the glory of God and the people were all so afraid that he had to wear a veil over his face until the glory of the Lord faded away.

God is holy and his glory reflects his holiness. That is why the people were warned about being in his presence, in the presence of his holiness and glory. Their sin, their unbelief, their lack of trust in God prevented them from having that kind of relationship with him. Moses saw the glory of God and his face reflected God’s glory. Those of us who have made Jesus their Lord and Savior are able to access the throne of God directly because of our relationship with Jesus. Jesus told us, when you see me, you have seen the father.

Now, instead of just reflecting the glory of God, the way Moses did, we are transformed by his glory from the inside out. The glory of the Lord dwells in our spirit and we can shine with the glory of the Lord. As we contemplate the glory of the Lord, really consider his holiness, his perfection, his goodness, mercy, faithfulness – when we contemplate all that is our heavenly Father and our Savior, Jesus, we are being transformed into his image with ever increasing glory. Dear walking friend, isn’t that an incredible gift that we are given? That, because of Jesus, we can shine with the glory of the Lord in this dark and broken world? What a privilege, one that we would never be worthy of without our Savior. I hope that as you continue your walk you will take every opportunity to contemplate the glory of the Lord and the glory that you carry in you.

Now let’s take a little time to meditate on 2 Corinthians 3:18:

And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

You are now at the halfway point of your walk. If you need to be back in 10 minutes, this would be the time to turn around and head back.

The second half of our walk is an opportunity for reflection, meditation, and prayer. For many of us, myself included, this might feel challenging. But the spiritual rewards, and transformation, that come from developing this discipline is great and so is the power of the Holy Spirit to help us. So let’s start with some questions that will guide you in the process of reflection.

Exodus 15:11 says, Who among the gods is like you, Lord? Who is like you – majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders? When you think of God’s holiness, what words come to mind? Try to think of as many words as you can to describe God’s holiness and glory.

How does it make you feel to know that you are being transformed into the image of Jesus and that his glory will shine through you?

Because of Jesus’ sacrifice for you, you are able to go directly to the Father. You are able to have a personal relationship with creator of te universe. When Jesus is your Savior, you have the Holy Spirit living in you. Take some time to consider these incredible truths now.

Now let’s listen to today’s verse one last time:

2 Corinthians 3:18:

And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

Is there anything else you would like to talk to Jesus about? Anything going on in your life? Remember he is right there with you, walking with you, and he is eager for you to share all that is on your heart and mind with him. Take some time to talk to him now.

Now I am going to pray for us:

Dear Jesus,

Thank you for making a way for us to have a relationship with our perfect and holy creator. Thank you for loving us so much that you not only want to save us from our sins, but you want to transform us from the inside out. Help us to die to ourselves so that you can live in us and we can be transformed into your image. Help your glory, through us, shine like a bright light in darkness, always pointing back to you. We love you, Jesus, and we are so grateful for all you have done for us. Amen.

Well, my walking friend, you did it! Another 10 minutes of walking and another opportunity to build the spiritual discipline of prayer and quiet time with Jesus, whose glory shines from within you. I’m grateful for you and I’m grateful you took the time to walk with me today.
